Prepaging and applications to the STAR-100 computer

Abstract

The Control Data Corporation (CDC) STAR (STring ARray) computer is a high performance vector machine capable of performing up to 100 million operations per second. Although the size of the main memory is limited to either 1/2 million or 1 million 64-bit words, the use of a virtual memory capability allows a virtual address space size of 4 trilon 64-bit words. The virtual memory is implemented by means of a paging mechanism. The system provides two page sizes, 512 (small) and 65536 (large) words, respectively
